Abstract

Sheldon’s conjecture arouses interest in finding possible relationships between the product of the digits of a prime number pn and its index n. This work shows, in a numerical exercise, that this conjecture could be explained by the quasi-cyclical ascending behavior of the product of the digits that make up pn. It was found that the product of the digits of pn cannot be mathematically related to the index n for several reasons, which are explained in this work. Furthermore, we reflect on whether this conjecture, based on the observation of a coincidence, could be modified by considering a rearrangement of the index of the prime numbers.
