Abstract

We found Walterianella inscripta Jacoby (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), causing damage to foliage of Paulownia elongata S.Y. Hu trees in San Carlos, Pital, Costa Rica. W. inscripta causes scratches and holes measuring between 0.1 and 0.07 cm2 in foliage. We observed a great incidence of defoliation damage affecting all trees, with a severity that in most cases affected over 75% of tree foliage. This is the first report of the damage of W. inscripta in P. elongata in Costa Rica.
