Conditions of sustainable environmental sanitation in rural communities of the Province of Cartago 2014-2016, Costa Rica

Abstract

The conditions for sustainable sanitation were determined by evaluating the management of wastewater, solid waste and the perception of the quality of drinking water, for this a survey was applied to 614 households and field visits were made, more than 90% of the interviewees, he was very satisfied with the quality of the water service, 50% indicated that he made the separation of solid waste and 94% said that he saved water. 100% of gray water from homes is discharged directly into stormwater collectors without treatment. In the case of sewage, 89% of homes use septic tanks with drainage area.
