Editorial policies
Anti-Plagiarism policies
The arbitration coordination uses plagiarism and similarity detection tools when a manuscript is initially received for evaluation. Currently, the journal uses an institutional tool based on Turnitin, provided through the Tec-Digital platform of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology.
If a manuscript presents a similarity index greater than 25%, the editorial coordination will contact the authors to request the corresponding clarifications. If the detected similarities persist and are not properly justified, the manuscript will be immediately rejected.
In addition, reviewers are encouraged to use complementary plagiarism detection tools during the review process (for example: palgiarisma and Dustball).
Digital preservation
The articles and materials published by the journal are digitally preserved by the Department of Information and Communication Technologies Administration (DATIC) of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology, which is responsible for backing up the institution’s server infrastructure.

Code of ethics
Editors, reviewers, and authors involved in the publication process of Matemática, Educación e Internet are expected to act according to ethical principles of transparency, objectivity, confidentiality, and academic responsibility.
For Editors
The editorial board is responsible for maintaining and updating the journal’s editorial policies and scientific committee in accordance with national and international academic publishing standards. The board also promotes the visibility and indexing of the journal in different databases and indexing systems.
Editors coordinate the administrative and academic review processes, keep reviewers informed about the minimum evaluation criteria, and communicate to authors the originality and authenticity requirements established by the journal.
Editors are also responsible for ensuring compliance with review deadlines and revised manuscript submissions, maintaining confidentiality throughout the review process, and supervising the final editing of accepted manuscripts.
For Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to comply with the assigned review deadlines, maintain objective evaluation criteria, and preserve the confidentiality of the manuscripts under review.
Reviewers must immediately inform the editorial board if they detect possible plagiarism, conflicts of interest, or any other practices that violate academic ethics.
For Authors
Authors must comply with the journal’s submission guidelines and must not submit the manuscript simultaneously to other journals or publication venues while the editorial process is ongoing.
Authors must avoid inappropriate practices such as plagiarism, self-plagiarism, including individuals as authors who did not contribute to the work, fabrication or manipulation of data, or any situation that may create conflicts of interest.
Authors are responsible for guaranteeing the originality and authenticity of the submitted manuscript and for properly acknowledging any texts, tables, figures, images, data, or other materials that are not their own.
Penalties
The editorial board will immediately reject any manuscript in which unethical conduct is detected.
Likewise, reviewers who fail to fulfill their responsibilities or who present conflicts of interest may be removed from the scientific committee.
The journal also reserves the right to reject future submissions from authors who repeatedly engage in unethical practices.
Open access and reuse policies
The journal Matemática, Educación e Internet provides online and diamond open access to all its content under the principle that free access to knowledge promotes the global exchange of academic and scientific research.
The journal encourages the use of data repositories to support and verify research findings. Therefore, together with the manuscript, authors must provide the datasets used in the study in open formats such as .csv or similar formats. If the data are confidential, this must be clearly stated in the manuscript.
The journal does not charge any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, editing, layout preparation, or publication.
All articles are freely available immediately after publication. Readers may read, download, copy, share, print, search, link to, or use the texts in whole or in part for any lawful purpose, in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

This license allows the work to be shared provided that proper attribution is given, the material is not used for commercial purposes, and no derivative works are created.
The journal may translate articles into other languages whenever considered appropriate.
Statement on the use of artificial intelligence (AI)
Authors must clearly and explicitly indicate whether artificial intelligence tools were used during the preparation of the manuscript. The statement should focus exclusively on the activities in which AI provided support, without mentioning commercial names, software versions, or specific platforms.
Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors, since authorship is reserved exclusively for individuals who meet the formal criteria for academic contribution established by the journal.
The use of artificial intelligence must follow ethical principles of transparency and responsibility, in accordance with the Heredia Declaration (Penabad-Camacho et al., 2024) available at https://doi.org/10.15359/ree.28-S.19967.
Among the activities in which artificial intelligence may have been used are:

If no artificial intelligence tools were used during the preparation of the manuscript, authors should explicitly indicate “No use of AI”.
Publication of Special Issues
The journal publishes special issues under the following conditions: here
