Main Article Content
Abstract
The construction of knowledge in the classroom is carried out in several ways, the most traditional way that goes from the teacher to the student, as well as the most contemporary teaching and learning methodologies, which promote the exchange of information between them. peers and where the individual construction of learning must encourage research, exploration and practice, ideally linked to the national reality. As part of the work carried out in the course of spatial and environmental systems I, of the Architecture degree at TEC, the different approaches proposed by the so-called Smart Cities are studied from environmental sustainability in global contexts and from this, the students are in charge of designing theoretical proposals that contribute to the comprehensive improvement of different locations in our country, which they consider require some intervention, whether at a technological level, improvement of neighborhoods, mobility, etc., with the objective to improve their learning experience linked to our national reality. This article summarizes some of the main experiences obtained by the students of the Spatial and Environmental Systems I, course between the years 2021 to 2024, in the search for the development of other methodological strategies to improve the teaching and learning process, such as critical thinking, through the approach of case studies contextualized in the Costa Rican society to which they belong and their daily lives.
