Abstract

The environmental problems generated by economic development have increased and the evidence of these are increasingly notable, among the multiple responses that are emerging is that of “green products”, based on a reduced impact on natural resources in their production and use; however the dilemma arises how to know if a product is green or not? There are in some countries public policy instruments such as eco-labeling in its different types as an alternative to curb greenwashing, however in the growing markets for green products such instruments are lacking as is the case in Latin America and more specific Mexico.
