Abstract

This paper describes the development of a shape memory alloy SMA of CuZnAl to produce coupling for unite pipes; for which the solid-state transformation process was obtained under atmospheric pressure.  The characterization of the chemical composition was determined by Spectrometry of Optical Emission. The temperatures of the phase change were determined with a DSC thermal study, whilst the structure of martensite was identified by optical microscopy under room temperature. Afterwards, it is shown a graphic of effort against temperature of an alloy type SMA that was obtained through a shaped mathematical model and simulation using finite element combining experimental data. The experiment concludes with a test of tension of the coupling with the tubing of copper to determine the force of the union.
