Abstract

This paper reports on research in the Colombian
rural municipalities of Alpujarra Tolima, Neira Caldas,
Marulanda Caldas, Geneva Valle, Zarzal Valle, Quebrada
Nueva and Aranzazu Caldas, where an approach to
pastoral work was carried out through the application
of interviews, as well as a characterization of the
social thought of the catholic Church implementing
a documentary analysis. The intention was to
demonstrate and discover that, in the context of the
cases studied, the attributes of contemporary society
represent a set of complex challenges for the Church
that are manifested on one side in the structural
disarticulation of rural cultural identity, from elsewhere
in the difficulty of implementing the message
contained in social though of the Church.
