Towards the adoption of the Evidence-Based Public Policy approach in the field of childhood and adolescence: reflections and challenges for its implementation in Latin America

Abstract
This article reflects on the approach of Evidence-Based Public Policies (PPBE) applied to the field of childhood and adolescence. To do this, it begins with an introduction that puts this approach in the context of the debate of public policies in the Latin American context, then describes what the PPBE consist of and why its consideration and application is important, then reviews the concept of scientific evidence, then talks about its levels and quality. Then we deliberate on the need to strengthen its use, discussing some challenges of the adoption of the PPBE approach in the field of childhood and adolescence. Finally, reflective conclusions are proposed, as well as actions to put into practice and take advantage of the potential benefits of the evidence-based approach in public policies on children and adolescents in the Latin American context.
