Resumen

La adopción de tecnologías novedosas por parte de pequeñas empresas rurales es un proceso necesario para lograr una mayor competitividad en los agresivos mercados de la actualidad. Muchas empresas requieren incrementar a corto plazo su nivel de madurez digital mediante la adopción de tecnologías disruptivas tales como inteligencia artificial, aplicaciones móviles, redes sociales, análisis de datos, internet de las cosas y servicios en la nube. Este artículo explora diferentes modelos y perspectivas sobre la adopción de tecnologías digitales disruptivas en pequeñas empresas rurales a nivel global. El artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de literatura de artículos científicos realizada con base en preguntas de investigación utilizadas para realizar una búsqueda bibliográfica en la base de datos SCOPUS. Los artículos resultantes fueron luego seleccionados y organizados en categorías para facilitar su análisis. Consecuentemente, el artículo resume los hallazgos más importantes de la revisión con respecto a: los principales retos que enfrentan las empresas con respecto a la adopción de nuevas tecnologías; las metodologías más usadas para evaluar la madurez digital; las métricas encontradas para medir el impacto de la adopción de nuevas tecnologías; las tecnologías innovadoras más comúnmente aplicadas para promover la transformación digital; y los casos de estudio relevantes sobre la adopción exitosa de tecnologías innovadoras. En particular, la información presentada sirve de apoyo a las pequeñas empresas rurales que enfrentan el reto de la transformación digital en países en desarrollo.
