Abstract

Teaching mathematics to students with visual impairments presents unique challenges that require inclusive pedagogical strategies, accessible teaching materials, and adaptive technologies. This article offers a comprehensive review of the theoretical foundations of inclusive education, learning theories adapted to visual disability, previous research findings, and a detailed inventory of tactile, digital, and braille-based instructional tools used in math education. It also examines adapted assessment instruments, effective teaching practices, and successful implementation cases from various countries. Through personal testimonies and examples of best practices, the article highlights the positive impact of these approaches on mathematical understanding, student autonomy, and participation. The conclusions emphasize the need for specialized teacher training and an interdisciplinary perspective to ensure the right to equitable and high-quality mathematics education for all students, regardless of visual ability.
