Scope and Focus
The Mesoamerican Forestry Journal Kurú (RFMK) is a scientific, open-access publication, issued on a biannual basis, aimed at disseminating knowledge in the field of forestry sciences and natural resources. Its main objective is to contribute to the integration, dissemination, and transfer of scientific and technical information in these fields, through digital technologies that ensure free and immediate access to its contents.
RFMK publishes original manuscripts that foster academic reflection, scientific development, and technological innovation related to the forestry sector, both nationally and internationally. It addresses a wide audience, including researchers, professionals, students, and the general public interested in the sustainable management of natural resources.
The journal accepts manuscripts in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and focuses on topics such as:
- Management and conservation of forest ecosystems.
- Silviculture, agroforestry, and ecological restoration.
- Climate change, ecosystem services, and landscape ecology.
- Wood technology and non-timber forest products.
- Forest policy, governance, and economics.
- Innovation in forestry education and rural extension.
In addition, RFMK seeks to highlight the academic work of the School of Forestry Engineering and the Research Center for Forestry Innovation (CIF) of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology, fostering the link between scientific research, knowledge transfer, and multi-actor dialogue in the forestry field.
Journal Sections
RFMK accepts the submission of manuscripts that are original, unpublished, and not under simultaneous consideration by other journals or editorial bodies. The types of contributions accepted are:
- Editorials: evaluated only by the editorial team and assigned a DOI code.
- Scientific articles: must comply with author guidelines and specific editorial policies. Evaluation will follow the peer review system described in the section on arbitration and manuscript evaluation.
- Forum: contributions on current topics related to the journal’s research lines. Authors interested in this section must contact the Editor-in-Chief. Submissions will undergo peer review and be assigned a DOI code.
