Improving the camping experience: Development of an intelligent camping system focused on the ambience of the environment and the tasks of cooking food
Main Article Content
Abstract
The project consists in the development of a system of intelligent objects that would help to create a better camping experience. Many people would like to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature, but would not take the risk because of the discomfort that can arise. According to the carried out study, the main necessities of campers are related to the lack of light and the cooking tasks. Based on this information the concept "assisted comfort" was established as a guide to design an ideal solution.
The proposed system consists of an intelligent flashlight and a portable bonfire. The flashlight aims to fulfill the needs of the camping area such as lighting and entertainment (music player) while the bonfire solves the cooking tasks. The proposals were refined through evaluations and verifications to determine the level of compliance with the requirements. The best solution was selected and developed in a high fidelity prototype using iterative methods and validated by users to improve the system.
