Abstract

In response to the institutional need for a pedagogically interactive and accessible space, this project aimed to promote exploration and hands-on experimentation in the learning of natural sciences and sustainability through the design and implementation of an educational garden within the framework of the Sonny’s Seedling project at the Centro Educativo Bilingüe Sonny. The process was guided by the Design Thinking methodology, enabling a user-centered approach tailored to the school’s real conditions. During the diagnostic phase, interviews were conducted with teachers and the curricular content by cycle was reviewed, facilitating the design of pedagogical strategies aligned with the learning objectives of the Science subject. In addition, a drip irrigation system was implemented, considering agronomic and hydraulic variables, and a catalog of plant species was developed based on their educational value, adaptability to the environment, and compatibility with the school calendar. As a result, a functional and adaptable space with high pedagogical potential was delivered, concluding that the garden represents a transformative tool for a more active, inclusive, and sustainability-oriented education.
