Academic Development, Outreach and Extension: The Work of the American Chemical Society Student Chapter at Tecnológico de Costa Rica

Abstract
The American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter at Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC), founded in 2019, promotes academic development, professional growth, and science outreach among students interested in chemistry and related fields. The Chapter is characterized by its interdisciplinarity, as it is mainly composed of students from different engineering programs. Its activities focus on community outreach, professional development, chapter strengthening, and the promotion of green chemistry. Among its most representative initiatives are the National Chemistry Festivals, as well as lectures, workshops, and science outreach activities aimed at diverse audiences. In addition, the chapter encourages its members to participate in international conferences, leadership programs, and other activities organized by the ACS, helping students develop skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership. The work carried out by the Chapter has received international recognition from the ACS, highlighting its impact on student development and science outreach.
