Análisis de Creación de Valor Económico para Empresas del Sector Textil (Value added analysis for the textile sector businesses)
Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Textile industries are fundamental in the development of a barrier-free global economy. Nowadays, these companies can pin their success or failure to three fundamental variables: (1) cost, (2) quality, and (3) product delivery time. It is not rare that if year end results aren´t positive, there is pressure to reduce expenses and influence decision making regarding plant closures, or outsourcing from areas where there still are competitive costs. However, besides the financial results, product quality and service level considerations, a key question arises: have these companies created or destroyed wealth? Subsequently, this study focuses on the development and analysis of a model to establish if companies operating globally have created or destroyed wealth during time, as there is a lack of an adequate tool capable of offering such information leading to good decision making. The proposed method arrives at the conclusion that these companies do not keep distinctive trends, and that different evaluation methodologies are not similar amongst themselves over different time periods; however, decision making is better guided by result analysis than from exclusively basing it on financial results.
